Doors and rooms found on the plan, as suggestions you decide on
Once the set knows which pages are floor plans, the doors and rooms on them can be found. What comes back is not a finished quantity: every result is a suggestion on the drawing, and it becomes a count or an area only when you accept it.

How it works
-
01
Open a floor plan and ask
"Detect on this page" runs on the page you are looking at. Nothing runs across a whole set behind your back.
-
02
Suggestions arrive on the drawing
Doors come back as counts, rooms as polygons, each marked as suggested. A vector page is read from its exact geometry; a scan or plotted image is read as a picture, and the run says which method was used.
-
03
Accept, reject or restore
Accept or reject one at a time, or a selected set together. A rejected suggestion is kept out of sight, and can be restored from the panel. An accepted one is an ordinary count or area from then on.
-
04
Count what looks alike
Box one symbol and "Count all like this" returns every look-alike on the page as suggested counts. Loosen or tighten the match and see how many came back.
-
05
Tie a door to its schedule row
A detected door near a mark of the project's door schedule is linked to that row, so the plan count and the schedule can be checked against each other.
-
06
Search by floor
Search a level's floor plans by name, and mark a door type on the plan to tell the detector what to count. "Level 34", "34TH FLOOR" and "L34" are read as the same level.
What it does
- Your decision is final
- Running detection again never touches a suggestion you accepted, moved, rejected or deleted, and never suggests the same place twice.
- Says why it found nothing
- A page with nothing detected reports which method read it and why, rather than an empty plan.
- Quantities need a scale
- Suggested areas and lengths use the page scale, and the status bar shows whether the page is calibrated.
Common questions
Can I trust the count?
Trust it as a suggestion. It is measured only on synthetic drawings so far, which is why every result waits for you to accept it.
What is the difference between detect and find similar?
Detect looks for doors and rooms on a floor plan. Find similar counts any symbol you box, on any page.
Does it change my takeoff without asking?
No. A suggestion is a marked-up candidate. It becomes part of the takeoff when you accept it.
More of the workspace
- Schedules Door schedule Every door on the set, one row per mark, with hardware and finish hanging off the same row.
- Schedules Hardware sets A hardware set breaks into items, each one matched to a catalog part, priced, and chosen.
- Schedules Room finishes Finish codes read from the specification, one record per code, tied to the doors that carry them.
