Door Hardware Roll-Up Calculator
Enter one row per hardware set: how many openings use it, whether they are single doors or pairs, and what each opening needs. The totals give you an order list to check against your schedule. Quantities are only as good as the counts you enter, so match them to the hardware sets in your spec.

A pair counts as two leaves.
Hinges are often priced by the pair; a half means one odd hinge.
How it is calculated
- 1 Leaves for a row = openings x leaves per opening (1 for a single door, 2 for a pair).
- 2 Hinges for a row = leaves x hinges per leaf. Hinge pairs = total hinges / 2.
- 3 Locksets, closers and stops for a row = openings x the per-opening count you entered.
- 4 Every column is then added down all rows. Rows left completely blank are ignored, and fractional counts are rounded up to whole items.
Assumptions to confirm
- Counts come from you
- The calculator does not decide what a set contains. Hinges per leaf, locksets, closers and stops are whatever you enter, so copy them from your hardware schedule. The Hinge Count Calculator can give a starting point for hinges per leaf.
- Per-opening items on pairs
- Locksets, closers and stops are counted per opening, not per leaf. A pair that needs a closer on each leaf should be entered as 2 closers per opening.
- Default row values
- A row where you only fill in some cells uses defaults: 1 opening, single door, 3 hinges per leaf, and 1 each of lockset, closer and stop. These are placeholders, not a recommendation, so check each row.
- What is not counted
- Only hinges, locksets, closers and stops are totalled. Other items on a real hardware set, such as seals, thresholds, flush bolts or kick plates, are not included.
This is an early planning estimate, not a quotation. Check quantities against your drawings, your specification and the manufacturer's data.
Questions about this calculator
What does a hardware set mean?
A hardware set is a named group of hardware items that goes on a type of opening, often labeled like HW-01. A schedule lists which openings use which set.
Why are hinges counted per leaf but locksets per opening?
Every leaf hangs on its own hinges, so the hinge count scales with leaves. A pair of doors usually has one lockset for the pair, so locksets scale with openings. Check your spec for how it treats pairs.
Does this add spares or overage?
No. The totals are the exact counts from your rows. If you want an allowance for spares or breakage, add it after the fact or see the Waste Factor Calculator.
Take these numbers off the drawings
Estimateria reads the door, hardware and finish schedules out of your PDFs into a priced grid, so the quantities you check here start from the set instead of a retype.
